Headache from the Back of My Neck
This pattern often points to cervicogenic headache: irritated upper neck joints, tight suboccipitals, or nerve irritation near C1–C3.
Typical features
- Starts in the upper neck, spreads to back/side of head
- Worse with prolonged forward head or looking up
- Tender knots under the skull base
- Often paired with neck stiffness
Relief steps at home
- Posture reset every 30–40 minutes (chin nods, shoulder rolls)
- Gentle suboccipital release with a towel roll for 1–2 minutes
- Breathing drills to relax upper traps
When to get care: recurring headaches, tingling, or dizziness need evaluation to rule out nerve involvement.
How we treat
- Circulation HD if fascial or nerve entrapment is present.
- Circulation PT for deep neck flexor training, thoracic mobility, and posture coaching.
