Neck to Arm Numbness
Tingling that starts in the neck and runs down the arm is a sign that a nerve is being pressed or irritated. It can stem from cervical discs, thoracic outlet, or wrist/elbow tunnels—the exact spot matters for treatment.
Common pinch points
Numbness can occur anywhere along the nerve path; symptoms alone can’t prove the location—testing is needed.
Cervical spine
Disc or joint changes between C5–C8 can pinch the nerve root.
Thoracic outlet
Nerves and vessels squeezed between scalene muscles, collarbone, and first rib.
Elbow or wrist
Ulnar nerve at the elbow; median nerve at the wrist (carpal tunnel).
Fascia & soft tissue
Tight fascia or adhesions along the nerve path can also trigger tingling.
Neck vs wrist/ elbow signs
| Clue | Neck origin | Wrist/elbow origin |
|---|---|---|
| Worse with neck movement | Often yes (turning head aggravates) | Usually no |
| Tingling area | Shoulder → arm → hand | Mostly hand/fingers |
| Neck/shoulder pain | Common | Less common |
Get a precise diagnosis
Nerve tests, ultrasound, and movement exams pinpoint where the nerve is squeezed.
How we relieve nerve compression
- Circulation HD: hydrodissection to free fascia around the nerve and open space.
- Circulation PT: posture and movement correction to prevent re-compression.
